They listen to people for hours when they have something to say, even if it’s not important. But it is important because it comes from that person’s neshama, and they’re here for that.
My name is Ellie Sheva Bracha-Magid, and I'm new to Safed. I’ve been coming here off and on for the last two years, and the Vogels have been kind of a side part of my life. But knowing they were here, taking me in for meals when I didn’t really have anyone else, just the openness was astounding.
What I witnessed in their home has been so inspiring—to see how they take in everyone and anyone. They feed them, they care for them, they give them a place to stay if they need a place to stay, they help them with advice, they listen to people for hours when they have something to say, even if it’s not important. But it is important because it comes from that person’s neshama, and they’re here for that.
They’re here in Safed, and they have an open home, and it is a constant flow of chesed, and a chesed that actually needs stronger support, because chesed can’t exist if it doesn’t have a vessel. They have created in their home an open place where the heart truly flows, and it is the essence of Yiddishkeit. It has been such a privilege to be permitted to know of them and to get to know them, and so I just want to encourage people: if you can come to Safed, give them a call.
